What is MAMA Magazine, the website for the ‘sophisticated retard’?By Nick CatucciI made my unfortunate discovery of MAMA Magazine on X, where the brand’s short video about “The Rise and Fall and Rise of the Men’s Magazine” went mildly viral in late August. Juxtaposing racy early Esquire, GQ, Playboy and other magazine covers with later, more diverse, one might even say woke covers and stories from those magazines, the message was clear: Who needs a “Cut for men” when you can have a website that is a 1990 issue of Playboy with Donald Trump on the cover for men? MAMA (an oddly effeminate name, until you realize that it presumably stands for “Make American Manly Again”) does not include a masthead or author bios on its website—and some bylines, like “Barry Weiss,” that seem like they might be fake—but it does include an about page that describes it as “a magazine for the sophisticated retard.”...
